Outflanker's Marina Ballerina Wins Another Stake
This past weekend was another successful one for the daughters of Outflanker and Gators N Bears. Marina Ballerina led the entire way to win the U Can Do It Handicap at Calder Race Course for her second stakes win in the last month. She has two stakes wins and a placing in three starts in 2009. Congratulations to her owners/breeders, Robert and Linda Pastor. We look forward to more success for this very speedy daughter of Outflanker.

Dances in the Cool Air Stakes
Outflanker's five year-old daughter, Marina Ballerina, overcame stumbling at the start and being checked in traffic on the backstretch to win the Cool Air Stakes at Calder Race Course over a sealed, sloppy racetrack. She accomplished all of this in five furlongs and now has a stakes win and place in just two starts in 2009. She is another example of Outflanker's offspring winning early as two year-olds and continuing to win at a high level.
With an average earning per starter of over $58,000, Outflanker represents real value to breeders. There is still plenty of time to book your late foaling or open mare to Outflanker in 2009 and breed your own Marina Ballerina, who has won over $391,000 for her owner/breeder. May foals are not at a disadvantage on the racetrack. The first three finishers in this years Kentucky Derby were May foals.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG OUTFLANKER'S RUNNERS
Outflanker (Danzig — Lassie Dear) is having a great month of May. His offspring have been wining at a 45% rate in 2009 compared to 34% for the two stallions ahead of him on the 2009 Maryland Sire List and with $58,000 average earnings per starter he represents true value for breeders. He is always among the leaders in two-year-old winners and stakes winners, but his real value may be runners that continue to win at 4, 5 and 6. This year he is represented by leading earner Apple Special, a stakes winner at two and an earner of over $97,000 in 2009 as a four year-old. Annabill at six has already won a stake and over $62,000 this year and Marina Ballerina at five is stakes placed in 2009 at Keeneland. Jack on the Rocks, who at four won very impressively a seven furlong allowance race at Belmont Park last week-end in 1:21.82 over a track listed as good, has continued to improve with every race. He received a 3 ¼ Ragozin for the effort.
Rob Whiteley wrote a great op/ed piece in the May 12th Thoroughbred Daily News debunking the myth that May foals do not win as much as foals born in earlier months. It is a great article and to read it: www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/restricted/pdf/oped/oped090512.pdf. It should be noted that the first three finishers in the 2009 Kentucky Derby were May foals.
St Averil will have his first starter May 14th at Pimlico in the 2nd race, Goddess Angel, good luck to her and her connections. Look for first starters by Fantasticat and Gators N Bears in the near future.
